Completely restored and renovated, Monboddo Castle in the Mearns is on the market.
This 17th century castle fell into disrepair after the last war and Nigel Tranter described it as 'abandoned and derelict'. In 1977 the 19th century additions were demolished and the early castle renovated. This work was continued by the current owners, who took over the house in 2009 and it is now fully fit for 21st century living.
The castle boasts interesting features at every turn, including turrets, crow stepped gables, gun loops, spiral staircase and 2 date stones of 1635.
