Brighter days lie ahead for the National Trust for Scotland property at Kennethmont which is set to open its doors to visitors again later this year.

Leith Hall's grand house has been closed to visitors since 2009 although the gardens have remained open.

However, thanks to a generous donation made to the National Trust a £500,000 scheme of work is about to begin which will make it possible for the property to reopen.

The work is intended to expand the diversity of uses the property can be put to and improve the overall visitor experience at Leith Hall.

Before the property reopens an appeal will be made for volunteer guides to take visitors on tours of the property.

The gardens and extensive grounds will remain open throughout the period of the works.
