Timpendean Tower (Roxburgh) - Past & Present

Timpendean Tower (Roxburgh)

Timpendean Tower, in 1905, and in the present

This little 16th century tower is beautifully situated a short walk from Jedburgh. It stands amid earthworks of an obviously earlier date.

A typical vaulted, gun-looped, border tower Timpendean was extended in the 17th century but these additions have since been removed leaving toothings and scars on the walls.

Timpendean has much tumbled in recent years. At the turn of last century the gables were intact but no longer. Can it be rescued and turned into a home before it is too late?
